  1. How do I nominate someone for a Pride of Australia medal?
    Nominating someone who inspires you is easy. Simply complete the official nomination form here.
  2. How long is the nomination period?
    Nominations are now open for the 2012 Pride of Australia medal across each state and territory until 5 p.m on Tuesday, 3rd July. Nominations received after this date will be considered for the 2013 Pride of Australia medal.
  3. Who can I nominate?
    You can nominate anyone who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident and who is not considered a high profile Australian. Celebrating people in your community, your nominee might be a friend, colleague, neighbour, police officer, fire fighter, charity worker or environmental activist. You can nominate more than once across all categories and even nominate yourself.
  4. Are there any age restrictions?
    All categories are open to all ages except for the Young Leader category which is restricted to Australian citizens under 25 years or younger and the Child of Courage category which is restricted to Australian citizens 16 years and under as at 5th June, 2012.
  5. How many times can I nominate someone?
    Please only make one nomination per nominee. Nominations are judged on a merit basis and not on the number of nominations received for a particular person. While you can only nominate someone once you can nominate more than one person in each of the ten categories.
  6. Can I nominate someone for more than one category?
    No, you can only nominate someone in one category. Please note that the Pride of Australia medal committee in each state and territory have the authority to change the category selected if another is deemed more appropriate. You will be notified if the original category you selected has been changed.
  7. Can more than one person or a group of people be eligible for nomination?
    Yes, but only in the Outstanding Bravery, Community Spirit, Care and Compassion, Heroism and Environment categories. A group can be no more than 10 people.
  8. How do I know my nomination has been received?
    You will be sent a letter or email acknowledging receipt of your nomination.
  9. If my nominee doesn't win, can I nominate them again next year?
    Yes, unsuccessful nominees may be nominated again in subsequent years. If your nominee does win a category, they may also be considered in another category in subsequent years.
