- in VIC, The Herald & Weekly Times Pty Limited, as publisher of the Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun
- in QLD, Queensland Newspapers Pty Limited, as publisher of The Courier Mail and The Sunday Mail
- in WA, Nationwide News Pty Limited, as publisher of The Sunday Times
- in NT, Nationwide News Pty Limited, as publisher of the Northern Territory News and Sunday Territorian
- In these Rules of Entry, the relevant organiser will be referred to as "News."
- The instructions on "How to Nominate" form part of these Rules of Entry.
- Nomination forms are available here and appear in the
relevant "News" publications.
- Photocopied entry forms will be accepted.
- All nominations must be the original work of the author and factually accurate, to the best
of the nominator's knowledge.
- Nominees must be an Australian citizen (except in the Fair Go category which accepts nominees who
are also Australian permanent residents and must have been born outside of Australia). Nominees must
be nominated in the relevant organiser's state or territory that is their principle place of residence.
- You cannot nominate a high profile Australian. You can nominate yourself.
- Nominees are not restricted by age except in the Young Leader category which is open to all Australians 25 years or younger and the Child of Courage category which is open to all Australians 14 years or younger as at March 15, 2009.
- Groups of people, being any more than one person, can only be nominated for the Community Spirit, Environment, Outstanding Bravery, Emergency Services and Care and Compassion categories and in each of these categories, groups can only be nominated where they consist of between 2 and 10 people (inclusive). Nominations must be nominations of the individuals and not of the organisation to which they belong. Nominations will be assessed and processed accordingly.
- If a group win the Community Spirit, Environment, Outstanding Bravery, Emergency Services or Care and Compassion category only one medal will be awarded to the group and each member of the group will receive a pin. The winners of the remaining categories will each receive a sterling silver medal and pin. All finalists will receive a sterling silver pin (except in WA and NSW/ACT).
- You can nominate someone in more than one category. Nominees can only win one category. There will be no tied winners in any category.
- Winners are not eligible to be nominated for that same category in subsequent years, however, they may be considered in another category in subsequent years. Unsuccessful nominees may be nominated again in subsequent years.
- Only nominees who are chosen as finalists will be contacted and asked for permission to continue with the judging process. In WA only winners will be contacted.
- All award finalists/winners will be required to sign a statutory declaration and must provide three character referees for background checking purposes to be considered as a potential winner. Finalists/winners in the Young Leader, Child of Courage and Fair Go categories will also be required to supply a birth certificate.
- Nominees must be alive at the time nominations close.
- Nominees will be judged on actions and contributions made since March 15, 2007.
- All nominations and supporting materials submitted become the sole property of “News” and will not be returned.
- All nominations must be received no later than 5.00pm on April 13, 2009 in your state or territory. Except in WA & TAS where all nominations must be received no later than 5.00pm on April 28, 2009.
- Failure to comply with the Rules of Entry may result in a nomination being disqualified.
- "News" is not responsible for illegible, late, lost, damaged or misdirected mail or for postage due.
- The final judging of the nominations will be conducted by a panel of judges appointed by “News” and finalists/winners will be notified by phone.
- If the judges are of the opinion that there is no suitable nominee in any category, no medal will be awarded in that category.
- Judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Winners will be presented their medals at a ceremony held in the state or territory in which they have been nominated.
- Winners will be published in relevant newspapers in the state or territory to which they have been nominated.
- Each nominator assigns to the Promoter all copyright and other intellectual property rights in all material (written and photographic) sent in as part of a nomination in the prideofaustralia™ medal. Each nominator acknowledges that the Promoter, as owner of the copyright in the material, may reproduce or transmit the material in any media for any purpose throughout the world without permission or payment. Each nominator waives their moral rights in the material which they submit with their nomination. Each nominator assures the Promoter that it is the owner of the material which the nominator has submitted as part of the nomination and that if the Promoter uses any of that material as contemplated above it will not breach any person’s rights (including copyright or moral rights). The Promoter collects information about you and your nominee to include you and your nominee in the prideofaustralia™ medal, and where appropriate, to award medals and publish articles about the nominees. The Promoter may also use the information to assist in improving its goods and services. The Promoter may share your information with its Australian related companies and the Promoter may contact you in relation to the prideofaustralia™ medal or similar awards in future years (including by email and other electronic media). The Promoter may also share your information with other persons or entities who are assisting in running the prideofaustralia™ medal program. The Promoter is part of a global media and entertainment company. The Promoter would like to share your information with these overseas related companies, but if you would prefer us not to, please write to the privacy officer in your relevant state or territory. You can also gain access to your personal information by contacting our privacy officer.
- By entering this promotion, each nominee agrees in addition to the above uses, that the Promoter may publish or cause to be published the winner's names and suburb in any media, together with publishing more detailed information which it obtains either through this or any other process.
